#MagnumNYC
Last Sunday I took a trip with two of my friends to the Magnum pop up store in Soho and let me tell you, it was heaven! If you don't know what this is, it's a temporary store where Magnum lets you create your dream ice cream bar and it is only open until the end of September! When you walk in, the place is lavishly decorated like a boutique/lounge with accent rugs, plants, and everything glamorous. Here are some photos of the decor...
Top: This was really cool because it was made entirely from Magnum popsicle sticks! Bottom: This was a clear letter 'M' filled with cocoa beans! My favorite!
Alright let's get to the ice cream part! You get on line and first you choose your bar, vanilla or chocolate. After that, you go down the line to choose 3 toppings. Here you can see toppings such as almonds, coconut, and wild blackberry sugar. My personal favorite are the signature gold flakes!
The Magnum barista puts your 3 chosen ingredients in a shaker, yes like a cocktail shaker, and mixes them up for you. After that, you follow your assigned barista to the dipping station! You chose between dark or milk chocolate and it is glorious.
Next, the barista quickly pours your toppings on both sides of the bar before the signature chocolate shell hardens. My barista was nice enough to slow down for this pic. Check out the gold flakes!!
Finally, you choose you drizzle flavor! Choices are dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. I chose milk chocolate to show a little contrast in color because I hate white chocolate. What I love about this is that you are also creating art that you can eat!
The barista places the signature 'M' chocolate piece and viola! Mine had toasted hazelnuts for crunch, chocolate cookie crumbs for extra chocolate, and of course gold flakes for my bling!
Here's a close up. They actually encourage you to take lots of pictures so that you give the chocolate time to set for that signature crack of the chocolate shell.
Cue the drooling.
This was well worth the trip! It was SO good!! Make sure you make a trip down there before Sep 30th!
