Summer Bucket List
Today is the last day of Summer...womp womp. This makes me sad, and I don't normally like the Summer but for some reason this year it grew on me. We are still getting warm weather here and there, but Thursday September 22nd, get your pumpkin spice and warm blankets ready for the first day of Autumn! I had a great Summer and part of the reason I did was because I made a Summer Bucket List. This wasn't on purpose, and I didn't hold myself to it every time, but it really helped seeing my plans written out in front of me. I always love doing strange and interesting things in the city so whenever I saw an event I liked, and was doable, I wrote it down. I got a lot of my ideas from Facebook and TimeOut magazine. So thanks ya'll! Over time I would keep adding or subtracting things from the list but overall the things I wrote down were solid events and places to visit. I love New York City for the unique experiences I get to be a part of and this list was a great example of that. Note: I called this Summer my 'Rooftop Summer" so most of the places were rooftop bars, BUT nonetheless let's get started!
1. Movie at a park I grabbed my blanket and snacks and I ended up watching Trainwreck at Chelsea Piers. It was so much fun I wish I did more of these but they weren't playing movies I wanted to see.
2. Rooftop Movie Nothing better than drinks and a movie (Sex & the City 2) on a nice Summer night in NYC! And of course my obsession, Sex and the City! Outfit inspired by Bradshaw! (Pictures in #3) 3. Mad46 Rooftop I always read about this place and decided to kill two birds with one stone when I went to the movie night here. Drinks were pricey and the crowd was a bit older but really nice place.
4. After Work Happy Hour Cruise Right at the beginning of the Summer I saw this flyer online for a happy hour cruise on one of my favorite boats, the Zephyr, at the South Street Seaport. I had to try it out! I loved it so much I went again with my coworkers because we work right by there! Danced the afternoon away!
5. Monarch Rooftop I was dying to go to this rooftop all Summer and I finally got to go when my brother came to visit from Pennsylvania! It was one of the stops on my list. I ended up going back for the Fly Sundays which is a gay event from 3-11pm! Amazing cocktails, amazing views! I love places that are gay friendly!
6. Rock & Reilly's NYC
I love going shopping on 34th street and every time I looked up I saw this place but never saw the entrance. One day I just decided to look for it and I'm so glad I did! Beautiful venue & great happy hour!
7. Smorgasburg
Talk about a foodie's dream! I rarely ever go to Brooklyn but I absolutely had to go to Smorgasburg in Prospect Park. So many things! All the sweet and salty goodness! I was in heaven!
8. Manhattanhenge Every year I always say I am going to see this and this year I finally did!!! For those of you that don't know what this is, it's when the sunset aligns perfectly between the NYC skyline- East/West.
9. Stargazing at the Highline I love the stars, the moon, and everything astronomy related. I also love The Highline so this was a great opportunity to show my mom and sister what it was all about! thehighline.org/stargazing
10. Rooftop Crawl I saw a deal for this rooftop crawl on Groupon and immediately loved the idea for my pre-birthday celebration. The groupon deal wasn't available for the 19th but I paid full price and did it anyway. Grabbed a couple of my girl friends and hit the night in style! https://www.rooftopcrawl.com/
I loved this rooftop!!!! Beautiful venue, great service, and good food! One of the other stops I did with my brother on our own rooftop crawl. Everyone needs to visit this place!
12. Attic Rooftop Now, I didn't get any pictures of my friends and I at this rooftop but it was on my list and I got to go haha. But here's a great picture of my friend Renee at The Attic!
13. Las Tapas
On Facebook I saw a picture of this place with a great outdoor space and sangria flight! Had to try!
14. Tacuba Wanted to try this place out, wasn't amazing but here's my pretty drink.
15. Seaglass Carousel
I am absolutely in love with this masterpiece!! Pictures don't do it justice go see it!
16. LePetit Art in the Bronx What a cute way to get my little sister into art!
17. Drive in Movie Theater This is awesome and it's in PA where my brother lives. This was on my life bucket list. Super cute!
I hope you enjoyed this list and hope you guys are inspired to make lists of your own!!! Happy last day of Summer! *ugly sobbing*
