Lady M Cake Boutique
Have you ever eaten a cloud? Well at Lady M Confections you will get your chance! I saw this unique cake on one of my favorite shows, "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" and was so excited it was in New York City!
The cake is called the Mille Crepes Cake a.k.a. The Signature and it is 20 layers of crepes and creamy pastry creme filling. This is the fluffiest cake I've ever had!! I have tried to go to this cake boutique before and by 6pm they were all sold out of this cake so my mission was to go back in the afternoon for the perfect slice! Straight after work I took the train to Bryant Park and met up with my friend Jaharah for our cake dinner. We were both beyond excited!
The menu is full of wonderful confections but I had my eye on one thing only, the Signature. Looking at all of the cakes on the way in, I also saw a black and white cake that resembled a checkerboard and I needed to have it too! I can never say no to chocolate! At $8 a slice, I couldn't ask for a better dinner than this! Jaharah ordered a green tea latte, then the strawberry shortcake and the red velvet cake.
When I took my first bite of the Mille Crepes Cake I could not believe how soft and airy it was. I took my fork and just ran it down and heard the sweetest sound of pillowy cream. I barely even needed to chew, it was so soft! I was afraid I was going to feel full from the cream but it was the complete opposite. Every bite was better than the last! The best part was that it was not too sweet; there's nothing I hate more than a dessert that gives me a headache from all the sugar. I didn't feel like I needed a ton of water to finish this slice either.
Can we discuss this?
Look at all those layers!!
My last bite came and I was getting really sad, then I remembered I had another slice of cake waiting! The Checkerboard cake covered in a thin layer of chocolate ganache was amazing! What can't these people do?! It was the perfect ratio of chocolate cake to sponge cake. You could also tell the ganache was made from really good quality chocolate. This was the perfect time to order a glass of milk, oh yes, they have warm and cold milk on the menu. It added the perfect touch!
Look at that perfect ganache layer!!
The strawberry shortcake and red velvet cake were just as airy, just as perfect, not too sweet confections. They put just enough cream where it's not overpowering the cake, and probably an actual cloud goes into the batter because we weren't even full after eating two slices each! Let the photo shoot continue!
Last bite! Sad tears...
I had such a great time at Lady M and I will definitely be back to taste more things on the menu for sure!!! Lady M has a few locations but the one I went to is on 40th and 5th avenue next to Bryant Park.
