Sarabeth's Tribeca
For NYC restaurant week I went to Sarabeth's in Tribeca for lunch. For $29 you get an appetizer, entree and dessert. I have been to the location on the Upper West Side and loved it, so this was my first time at this location. The venue is beautiful, there are paintings on the walls, and the decor is very chic.
I ordered the Escarole Salad (candied kumquats, prosciutto di parma, toasted walnuts, apple, balsamic vinaigrette) and was surprised at how much I liked the candied kumquats. I loved the addition of the apple for a sweet crunch as well.
Joanna ordered the Short Rib Arancini (white truffle aioli, parmigiano reggiano). Arancini are rice balls usually with a meat or cheese filling. They were crispy on the outside and well seasoned, the rice was fluffy and the aioli paired well with it.
For our entrees, I ordered the Rotisserie Chicken (Irish champ potatoes, chicken au jus) and she got the Pan Seared Salmon (roasted brussels sprouts, fennel relish Meyer lemon). My chicken was okay and so were the potatoes.
The salmon was cooked perfectly with a nice crispy skin. The brussels sprouts were nice and crunchy, and the plate looked beautiful.
I waited all week for this dessert and I was seriously underwhelmed. As a dessert lover I thought this was a good idea, but it just was not executed well. the S’Mores in a Jar consisted of triple chocolate pudding, graham cracker crumb and toasted marshmallows. When I put my spoon into this dessert I dug all the way into the bottom for a little bit of everything but what I got was a dry mouthful of graham cracker crumbs. It was a bad ratio of pudding to crackers. Another disappointing note was that the marshmallows weren't gooey or melty like a s'more; they were cold. I could barely even get this down. As a lover of sweets I was sad it wasn't sweet at all either. Beautiful presentation though.
Joanna got the Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting and vanilla gelato. I loved this dessert way more. First of all, it was perfectly sweet, the berries that accompanied it were delicious, and I love when you can see the vanilla bean specs in a gelato. Thanks for sharing!! I needed my sweet fix!
My outfit of choice was Old Navy everything! These are all favorites for sure! I love how a classic white button-down looks under a sweater for any occasion. I stuck to colors in the same tones for this Winter look. Pictured here are a crew neck purple sweater, blue corduroys, and olive green suede ankle boots with gold detail. This gold, textured necklace is one of my favorite items from OldNavy.com!
