A Walk of Art Visionary Shoes
I was tagged in a video on Facebook about this exhibition and I absolutely FELL IN LOVE. *Insert heart eyes emoji here* My friends know me so well! My two loves –art & shoes– come together in this awesome exhibition, "A Walk of Art" at the Parasol Projects Gallery in Bowery. These works of art were created by alumni and students of Israel’s most prestigious academy – the Bezalel Academy. The artists were given creative license to do whatever they wanted and the results were fabulous. There were shoes inspired by Star Trek, the Earth, animals, other artists, and much more. I was blown away at how far the artists went with their designs and super excited to see photos of how the shoes look on people's feet.
A lot of the shoes had descriptions on the inspiration behind each project which really helped when looking at each piece. My favorite ones were the ones made from wood. Some of the artists molded their designs from clay first and then finished in the medium of their choice. Other artists made futuristic shoes from shiny metals. I think it's amazing how much creativity can come from such a unique assignment. I love the directions the artists went in, and together all of the shoes make for a great showcase!
The shoes I still remember in particular are:
The shoes inspired by Salvador Dali, the shoes depicting Dorothy's journey back to Kansas, and the shoe showcasing the foot in all it's naked beauty. These are just 3 out of the more than 60 pairs in the exhibition! Check out my gallery of photos below.
Please check out all of the pics from the gallery and I hope you enjoy! A Walk of Art was at the Parasol Projects Gallery (208 Bowery, New York) from January 24 to February 12, 2017. Gallery #1:
