HUNGRY IN HEELS

Sprinkles Cupcakes - D.C.

While on a weekend getaway in Washington D.C., I stumbled upon this lovely gem of a place. I totally forgot D.C. has a Sprinkles Cupcakes, shame on me! Candace Nelson is the founder and pastry chef of Sprinkles Cupcakes, the world's first cupcake bakery. She is also a judge on Food Network's Cupcake Wars. Nothing gets me more excited than a place I learned about on the Food Network!

After stepping inside the cute shop and closing the door behind me (they ask you to keep the door closed to keep the cupcakes fresh) I stood on a short line and checked out all of the flavors. The first one to immediately catch my eye was the banana cupcake!

I got a box of 4 for $15 which included the banana cupcake with vanilla frosting, dark chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting, cinnamon sugar cupcake with no frosting, and vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting. I also purchased a nice cold cup of milk which went perfectly with these!

This banana cupcake was the best I've ever had. It was perfectly moist, natural banana flavor, and hints of spices. The frosting was perfect, not too sweet.

My second favorite was the dark chocolate cupcake. It was the most moist, best tasting chocolate cupcake I've ever had. I could not believe how good this chocolate was! Again, the frosting was perfect, not too sweet. Third runner up was the cinnamon sugar cupcake and last was the vanilla. I don't know if it was because I was feeling more banana that day, but the vanilla didn't do it for me.

Thanks for checking out my post! This Sprinkles is located in Georgetown, D.C. but there is also a Sprinkles Cupcakes here in NYC that I really hope to visit soon!
