HUNGRY IN HEELS

What I Ate in P.A.

I spent a weekend in Pennsylvania visiting my brother and helping him move into his new apartment. It was only right I shared with you all the things I ate while over there because these are things I haven't had in New York.

We'll start with this fruit beer from Strange Brew Tavern called Purple Haze. I don't drink beer, but I saw fruits and I said to myself, why not? I still don't like beer... but it was fun to try!

I ordered the broccoli cheddar bites and they were delicious! Just like the description said, if you like broccoli cheddar soup, you will like these!

My brother ordered the Big Brew Burger which had cheddar, bacon, pastrami, fried egg & potato.

This burger came with the most amazing homemade potato chips!!

The unique thing about Strange Brew is they have this sheet of 100 mystery beers. You just pick a number, they cross it off the list, and each one is a surprise.  My brother has gotten through about half of them.

It was a fun time at Strange Brew in Allentown!

The next morning, we picked up my nephew and he suggested we go to Perkins for brunch!

I'm disappointed we don't have one of these in the city because I really liked it here. Right away I noticed the bakery and my favorite pie in the window.

Once I got my menu, it was really hard to choose what I wanted but I knew I definitely wanted the Pancake Dippers to start. Pancake Dippers are smoked Applewood bacon strips coated in their famous buttermilk pancake batter, griddled golden brown and served with maple syrup. I love sweet and salty together!

 My nephew liked them too!

I finally decided on the Lemon Blueberry Pie Pancake Platter which is Lemon Meringue Pie filling layered between real blueberry pancakes, topped with powdered sugar and whipped topping. The waitress warned me it would be really sweet but it was perfect. I usually go for super indulgent choices for brunch!

What a fun time in Pennsylvania!

Thanks for checking out this post!
