HUNGRY IN HEELS

Follow the Stars

I love star constellations, so when Diane Von Furstenberg unveiled an interactive, zodiac-themed room by Greek artist, Konstantin Kakanias, I was in awe. Walking in, you're immersed in this deep smoky blue that makes you forget you're at her flagship store in the Meatpacking District. Right above you is a beautiful cascade of Swarovski crystals that add just enough sparkle to this dream-like space. Behind a large star and crescent moon are platforms to sit on for your photos. (I ended up finding camera stands we propped our phones into for perfectly timed selfies and group photos as well.) On the floors and the walls are all the different zodiac signs and their star constellations with different words next to them like persistence, glamour, and generosity. I couldn't stop taking pictures in this space because every corner of it offered a great backdrop!

Overall, this 600 square foot space was a great little escape from the cold weather outside and a great marketing tactic to get foot traffic for her new collection that mirrors the same theme. It's something everyone can connect with whether you believe in astrology or not.

All I have to say is, I hope New York City keeps encouraging these "Instagram-bait" rooms because they're really fun!

DVF is located at 874 Washington St in the Meatpacking District and Follow the Stars was open from early December to February 2nd. Thanks or checking out this post! Stay tuned for more art pop-ups in NYC!
